This paper explores the use of assistive technology (AT) in disability sports, addressing questions of disability, access, equity, and embodiment. Through semi-structured interviews with twelve athletes with physical impairments, the study highlights diverse experiences and the impact of AT on athletes’ sense of freedom and possibilities. The paper emphasizes the importance of access and learning to use AT effectively in sports. It aims to inform scholars, advocates, and sports sociologists working at the intersection of AT, disability, and sport.
