Intention in information systems adoption and use: research directions

Intention has long been a focus in information system (IS) research, playing a significant role in acceptance models such as TAM, the elaboration likelihood model, IS success model, and UTAUT. It is represented in various forms including adoption, use, continuation, discontinuation, and switching. Intention has been studied in different settings, populations, and durations of use, using various empirical designs and measurement instruments. This editorial provides a concise overview of intention in IS literature, addressing key issues and suggesting future research directions.
