Novel miRNAs and their Target Gene Networks from Hippocampi of Rats that Performed Regular Exercise

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been previously described to regulate gene expression. To determine whether such non-coding RNA regulates gene activities in the brain as a consequence of regular exercise, expressed sequence tags (ESTs) identified in a related study by one of the authors on the hippocampi of Swiss Wistar rats that exercised on a treadmill were subjected to an in silico analysis. Marla A. Endriga discusses new insights to the well-established salutary effects of physical activity on learning and memory.
