The decline in the number of school librarians in recent years can be attributed to the lack of evidence connecting them to student achievement. However, a study conducted using a quasi-experimental design and matching technique aimed to compare the academic performance of students attending schools with full-time certified librarians to those without. Analyzing restricted data from North Carolina, the study found that students with full-time librarians scored significantly higher in both math and reading tests. These results highlight the positive impact of having a full-time certified school librarian on student performance.
