The cognitive-behavioural model of hoarding disorder incorporates information processing difficulties, maladaptive attachment to possessions, erroneous beliefs about the nature of possessions, and mood problems as etiologically significant factors, although developmental experiences such as a compromised early family environment have also been proposed in an augmented model. Michael Kyrios is an Australian clinical psychologist. He is a professor at Flinders University, and serves as Vice-President and Executive Dean at the university’s College of Education, Psychology and Social Work.
