By raising workers’ compensation income benefits by $77 per week, there was a subsequent increase in the number of days off work by 3.4, along with a 2.9% reduction in the risk of reinjury.
According to the research, the existing benefit level in New York demonstrates a well-balanced approach between cost for payers and positive health outcomes for workers, suggesting the presence of near-optimal conditions.
